The Bothwell Arts Center Has You Covered for Your 2025 Resolution Needs
Livermore, CA – (December 23, 2024) – How about filling your life with more ART as a resolution for 2025?! Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of creativity at the Bothwell Arts Center! Not just for kids, Livermore Valley Arts’ Visual Art Camps and Classes offer a captivating journey for yes, kids, but also adults and families alike, where the power of artistic expression knows no bounds. Whether one is a budding young artist eager to explore talents or an adult seeking a refreshing escape into the world of visual arts, LVA Bothwell programs have something for everyone, with classes taught by accomplished and exciting instructors, whose passion and skill create a welcoming, inclusive environment, allowing the Bothwell to be a true incubator for artistic growth and inspiration. The Bothwell classes for adults running on a weekly basis include Adult Drawing on Fridays and Adult Painting on Tuesdays. The workshops offered range from a comedy class series to fabric/batik painting to jewelry making and wood craft. The upcoming winter has workshops that cover a wide range of interests for adults seeking a creative outlet. The Tri-Valley is invited to let loose on their creative side at a class or workshop in Downtown Livermore at the Bothwell Arts Center.
The Bothwell comes to life through LVA’s roster of amazingly talented instructors. Livermore favorite John Iacono’s classes—such as ArtTopia, Pixel Pioneers, and Creative Lab for younger artists—are carefully crafted to inspire imagination and critical thinking, empowering students to develop their artistic skills while expressing their thoughts and emotions. Through hands-on projects and collaborative activities, participants not only refine their technical abilities but also gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse world of art. John’s classes create a supportive community where students can share their creations, learn from one another, and build
confidence in their artistic journey. John has a California Teaching Credential K-8. As John himself comments, “A child with a paintbrush holds the universe in their hand. Art gives kids the power to create their own sunshine.”
Having taught art for over 11 years at the preschool to university level, professional artist Thomasin Dewhurst is another Bothwell instructor who nurtures creativity in classes such as Ceramics and Multi-media, Painting, and Drawing, offering a vibrant space for young creatives to explore their imagination and develop art skills. Through hands-on projects and expert guidance, students build confidence in various techniques while expressing their unique ideas and learning art history. Media include drawing, watercolor, acrylic, oil, ceramics, and mixed media, and the classes are designed to inspire creativity, foster artistic growth, and ensure plenty of fun along the way. In classes, Thomasin covers an extensive variety of subject matter and mediums including portraits, landscape, still-life, illustration, working with line, color, light & dark, perspective & depth, realism, collage, abstract art, pencil, colored pencil, oil paint, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, acrylics, and print-making.
At Bothwell, students of all levels are welcome, and classes are small and supportive, catering to each student’s individual needs. Students develop their creativity by exploration and experimentation while learning essential techniques of drawing, painting, sculpting, and other methods of making art. Critical and creative thinking about the student’s own work is encouraged.
The Bothwell drawing instructor is Cameron Songey. Cameron is a Bay Area freelance Illustrator, whose passion is creating fantastical realms and their inhabitants. Graduating in 2023, Cameron has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cal State East Bay, with a focus in Illustration. Cameron works traditionally and then scans his work to finish his illustrations digitally. He allows his inspirations like sci-fi, mythology, and fantasy to aid his creative process and strives to create artwork that inspires others with similar interests. Says Cameron, “Ever since I started drawing I’ve always been attracted to showing emotion through physical media. I believe every choice I make during my process of creating has the potential to immerse, communicate, and inspire.”
The Bothwell Arts Center is located at 2466 8th Street in Downtown Livermore, where art comes to life and every stroke tells a story. LVA invites budding and experienced artists alike to choose ART in the new year and come out to the Bothwell in 2025 to discover the joy of painting, drawing, sculpture, and more in an atmosphere that nurtures creativity and encourages exploration.
