A New Exhibit Celebrating the Enduring Spirit of the California West, at Livermore Valley Arts
Livermore, CA – (April 25, 2025) – An adventurous new exhibit, “Saddle, Brush, and Art: A Cowboy’s Poetic Canvas,” will be on display this spring and summer at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater from May 8 to July 27, 2025*. This exciting exhibit will have visitors immersing themselves in the vibrant traditions and enduring spirit of the California West, celebrating the artistry, resilience, and legacy of modern-day cowboys and cowgirls. Free and open to the public, the exhibit showcases an array of visual and literary works, including vivid paintings, dynamic sculptures, and compelling cowboy portraits that tell the stories of life on the range. Through these carefully curated pieces, visitors of “Saddle, Brush, and Art” will journey into the heart of cowboy culture, exploring wide-open landscapes, bustling ranches, and quiet campfires that form the backbone of the Livermore-Amador Valley’s rich heritage. Experience this ruggedly authentic exhibit in person at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater in Downtown Livermore, Thursdays through Sundays, 1 pm—5 pm.* The Reception for “Saddle, Brush, and Art” at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is on Saturday, May 31, from 1-4 pm. Guests of all ages will enjoy a taste of Western heritage with a s’more-making station, hands-on bandana printing inspired by frontier traditions, a cozy faux campfire for gathering, and the sounds of cowboy music setting the scene. Cowboy hats and boots are warmly encouraged to help everyone get into the spirit of the trail!
Additionally, in conjunction with the exhibit at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater, the Livermore Public Library will host a month-long celebration of cowboy poetry and art. This community-wide collaboration will include displays of local artists’ works, special poetry readings, and family-friendly activities that highlight the storytelling and creative traditions of the cowboy lifestyle. The Reception for the Livermore Library exhibit is Wednesday, June 18, from 5-6:30 pm at the Library Gallery. The Reception will host the artists and poets and have poetry readings. Together, these events throughout Livermore will provide an immersive cultural experience for all ages.
Viewers will not want to miss this ‘cool’ way to experience the warm summer months through this exhibit celebrating the rugged West and all its excitement, something for guests to explore this late spring and summer. The UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is in the lobby of the beautiful Bankhead Theater at 2400 First Street, Livermore, and the Livermore Public Library is located at 1188 S. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. “Saddle, Brush, and Art: A Cowboy’s Poetic Canvas” is free and open to enjoy by ticketed patrons during performances and by the general public, Thursdays through Sundays, 1 pm—5 pm, May 8 through July 27, 2025*, at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery. The public is invited to share in this thrilling new exhibit, to discover the heart and soul of the cowboy experience, and join this celebration of Western heritage, as visual art, poetry, and sculpture converge to honor a timeless legacy.
