About Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

“You want magic? Wait until you see Cinderella!” (Marilyn Stasio, Variety) Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is the new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” alongside an up-to-date, hilarious, and romantic libretto by Tony Award-nominee Douglas Carter Beane. Originally presented on television in 1957, starring Julie Andrews, this show was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was twice remade for television: its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. The original Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella opened in 2013.

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein

hallmarks of originality, charm, and elegance. “A timeless musical treasure” according to Mark Kennedy of The Associated Press, and “a full-on romantic fantasy” according to Elisabeth Vincentelli of The New York Post, Tri-Valley families will not want to miss out on this lavish classic and musical theatre institution for all ages, filled with fantastical characters and charming dramatic situations alongside a nostalgic dreamy score, this July at The Bankhead. This show truly is one of musical theatre’s not-to-be-missed treasures, satisfying musical dreamers everywhere!

Presenting Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Tri-Valley Theatre Company (TVTC) is the continuing next act of Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre (a Resident Company of The Bankhead), whose commitment to bringing high-quality theatre to the community has continued to flourish. With Artistic Director Brian Olkowski continuing at the helm, along with a Board of Directors led by Glen Riggs as Board President, they are carrying on, furthering the company’s legacy of creating amazing musical theatre for enjoyment, enrichment, and involvement in the arts in the Tri-Valley with Tri-Valley Theatre Company. TVTC’s inaugural season in 2024 saw a nearly sold-out LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical and a thrilling production of Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN, kicking off TVTC’s first season in this new era on a wonderful note. Starting off its second season this year with the totally tubular ROCK OF AGES, and now closing out 2025 at The Bankhead with a full-musical production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA, TVTC cannot wait to take audiences along on a delightful journey of ‘pure magic,’ perfect for dreamers and believers of all ages!

Collaborating with the organization is an enchanting, continuing journey for Livermore Valley Arts on its own. “We are gratified to continue to see TVTC full productions enriching our ‘own little corner’ of the world, right here in Livermore,” said LVA Director of Marketing Ruth Egherman. “[Artistic Director] Brian Olkowski’s leadership, energy, and vision have been instrumental in the success of past TVTC shows Legally Blonde, The Music Man, and Rock of Ages. We cannot wait to make the ‘impossible’ ‘possible’ this summer with the ever-charming CINDERELLA!”
