Livermore’s Latest ‘Venue’ Sensation This Winter, the Stage Door Lounge
Livermore, CA – (December 10, 2023) – A new theatrical experience venue will come to life this January at the Stage Door Lounge, an intimate, relaxed venue on the Bankhead stage itself in Downtown Livermore. Livermore Valley Arts is excited to unveil this new space for select performances at The Bankhead; blurring the lines between backstage and onstage, audience and artist, this intimate lounge space will take place entirely onstage, with the main curtain down, creating a concert, stage, and venue all in one, entirely between the back wall of the building and behind the curtain. This multipurpose venue will feature acts of all varieties: music, laughs, and everything in between, and will be a way to see a performance in an exciting, relaxed way. Audiences are invited to be part of this inaugural new series, as tickets will be limited to ensure an intimate setting. The first event at The Bankhead will kick off on Wednesday, January 17 with Comedy at the Stage Door Lounge: audiences will be “rolling on the stage laughing (ROSL)” as the stage is transformed into an intimate comedy club for a stand-up experience unlike any other. At the Stage Door Lounge, one isn’t just witnessing magic – you’re an up close and personal part of it. Hosted by Brian Maggi, this event will also feature the comedy stylings of Paul Conyers, Orion Levine, and Justin Lockwood.
The Stage Door Lounge is inspired by Executive Director Chris Carter’s vision to activate The Bankhead more days of the year. “This intimate space will allow us to not only present different artists and performers, but to present them in a unique and relaxing way,” says Carter. “The Stage Door Lounge is a comfortable space with a vibe, and a new way of unwinding at The Bankhead. We want the Lounge to feel different, special from The Bankhead proper. At the Stage Door Lounge, from the moment you are ushered in the backstage Stage Door, anything can happen, each show will be unique, up close, and most importantly, fun; it is happy hour, performance, and after party cheers rolled into one.”
