Livermore, CA – (December 30, 2025) – A compelling new exhibit, “Modern Currents: Contemporary Asian Voices,” will be on display this winter at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater from January 8 to March 8, 2026. Featuring pieces by artists from Cambodia, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Russia, South Asia, and more, this gripping and captivating art exhibition brings together contemporary artists with Asian backgrounds whose works explore the layered intersections of heritage and modernity. Free and open to the public, the exhibit opens space for dialogue with neighboring cultures across Asia—highlighting shared histories, spiritual motifs, and evolving identities in a globally connected world. Experience this riveting exhibit in person at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater in Downtown Livermore, Thursdays through Saturdays, 12 pm—5 pm.* The Opening Reception for “Modern Currents” at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is on Saturday, January 17, from 1 pm—3 pm, featuring teachers Mr. Philip Chan and Mr. John To from the Oriental Art Association (USA), who will be presenting their expert Chinese Brush technique.
Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists of “Modern Currents” reflect on ancient traditions, personal and collective memory, and the rapidly shifting landscapes of their homelands. This exhibit will transport audiences East with both traditional and modern pieces, with the Oriental Art Association (USA) itself having an impressive 32 paintings on display.
More than an art exhibition, “Modern Currents” stands as a confluence of memory, tradition, and transformation across dynamic cultures. Through both tradition and identity, this exhibit explores evolving Asian identities in the modern global world. Viewers will not want to miss this stunning exhibit this winter. The UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is in the lobby of the beautiful Bankhead Theater at 2400 First Street, Livermore. “Modern Currents: Contemporary Asian Voices” is free and open to enjoy by ticketed patrons during performances and by the general public, Thursdays through Saturdays, 12 pm—5 pm, January 8 to March 8, 2026*, at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery.
