Juneteenth commemorates the liberation of the enslaved peoples in Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation abolished slavery in the Confederate States in 1863. We will observe the date with a local celebration including, music, art, drumming, singing, dancing, and musical performances.

Juneteenth Performance Schedule

10:00am-11:00am: Intro, Cheza Nami (African dance ensemble)
11:00am-12:00pm: Dr. Dyrell Foster (speaker), Alise Bradford and Moving Van (singer and band)

12:00pm-1:00pm: The N.T.B. Collective (jazz trio), Imani Prior (youth dancer)

1:00pm-2:00pm: Malik & Jess (youth dance duo), Urban Jazz Dance Company (deaf dance company), Sorinvibee (singer), Dr. Ramona Tascoe (speaker), STEPS by Kei-Che (deaf performer)
2:00pm-3:00pm: Father’s Day Dance Off (audience participation), Ashley Jemison (saxophonist), East Bay Get Down Prelims (dance battle)
3:00pm-4:00pm: St. Matthews Baptist Church Choir (choir), Jamey Williams (Poet)
