Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with a New Art Exhibit at Livermore Valley Arts
Livermore, CA – (April 29, 2026) – A celebratory new exhibit, “America in Art: 250 Years of Shared Creativity,” will be on display this late spring and summer at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater from May 14 through July 25, 2026. In time for the semi-quincentennial on July 4th of this year, the exhibit invites artists to explore and interpret the people, landscapes, traditions, history, and cultural moments that shape the American experience. Viewers will discover works inspired by regional life, community traditions, historic milestones, evolving social movements, industry and innovation, popular culture, and everyday scenes that capture a sense of place and time. Free and open to the public, the art in this show includes both nostalgic and contemporary perspectives, with artists sharing personal, cultural, and community stories that reflect the nation’s diversity and complexity. Experience this timely exhibit before and after the July 4th season in person at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater in Downtown Livermore, Thursdays through Saturdays, 12 pm—5 pm.* The Opening Reception for “America in Art: 250 Years of Shared Creativity” at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is on Saturday, May 16, from 2 pm—4 pm, also free and open to the public, where you can watch artist Jen Huber bring a vibrant red, white, and blue still life to life in this live painting demonstration. Then tap into your own creativity—art supplies will be available for guests to create their own patriotic-inspired masterpiece.
Visitors to the exhibit can expect a wide-ranging visual journey—from rural and urban environments to symbolic imagery and lived experiences—offering many viewpoints on how America has been seen, felt, and imagined over the past 250 years, with all those complexities. “Though visual art is most often the unique creative output of one person, the desire to create is a universal attribute shared by all humans,” said artist Ken Ball. “Being part of ‘America in Art’ is exciting because this exhibit brings together so many different voices, styles, and perspectives—and yet somehow it all connects in one large creative conversation.” Artist Diana Losch shared her approach to her art on display, “I live on the Central Coast of California. I’m deeply influenced by this beautiful but harsh land of extremes. Humans and climate change leave their mark on this fragile place. My work seeks collective cohesion amid a disruptive, rapidly evolving, and inherently unstable world.” Don’t miss the many viewpoints and experiences from 250 years of history, contained in this art exhibition, on display this May through July.
“America in Art: 250 Years of Shared Creativity” is a wonderful new exhibit at Livermore Valley Arts, and viewers do not want to miss it this summer as part of their patriotic celebrations during the warmer season. The UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery is in the lobby of the beautiful Bankhead Theater at 2400 First Street, Livermore. “America in Art: 250 Years of Shared Creativity” is free and open to enjoy by ticketed patrons during performances and by the general public, Thursdays through Saturdays, 12 pm—5 pm, May 14 through July 25, 2026*, at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery. # # #
